The Mcdonald's fast-food chain has recently been in the news based on a confirmed E. coli outbreak likely related to slivered onions served at locations in multiple states, including Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, and Iowa. The exact timing of the contaminations is unclear but the 100-plus reported cases reported symptoms between September 12 and October 21 of 2024. Of the 104 known people infected by the outbreak it is believed by the CDC that 34 were hospitalized and one person died. It is believed that more people were infected that have not been identified.
